Choreography and staging
Marie-Claude Pietragalla et Julien Derouault
Théâtre du Corps first work
Reinvented by the dance, the choreography redeploys time in the way childhood memory resurfaces with sequences of intimate moments.
From stolen moments of both dancer childhoods, screened on stage, the performance has a strong feel of universality... These memories could be ours.
Julien Derouault and I walked through our childhoods to explore in a non-judgemental way the memory of human being . The events that shake our lives like the impact of a birth, or the death of a loved one, leave an indelible mark in our bodies and intimacy.
These memories, good or bad, are forever part of our adult lives, married life and as parents. Photographs and extracts of films screened in this duo thus symbolize the presence of an eye, a sympathetic immortalized witness ... I dedicate this performance to my father.Marie-Claude Pietragalla
"Right in musical lyricism, they dare the silence. ... The feel of observing dancers taking their work with passion and determination takes the prize."
" The strength of this work is a daring desecration of classical dance as well as contemporary dance. "
"Fragments of authenticity. This work is an evocation of Pietra's childhood up until the recent past. The set is simple and ingenious, each sequence creates the feeling that you are turning pages of an album. Alternating live and original image projection from the dancers’ childhood."
"A mesmerizing and intimate Ballet."
